I have been involved with Karate for over 30 years and I am one of the teachers at Lindsay Martial Arts Academy. I live for Karate!! and most of all I have enjoyed seeing new students progress in their training over the years. I have seen new students go from their first days of training right through to senior black belts at our club. I have a lot of respect for the dedication that our club puts forth to train at all levels of our sport. In 2017 I flew to the Island of Okinawa and graded to my 4th dan in front of our association, and I attend Japan almost every year to keep my skills at the top. I look forward to helping our student's progress and I hope to see you at the dojo!
I started my Karate training in 1990 at the age of 26 and for 14 years I studied Shotokan Karate. I first trained under Sensei Don Wright in Smith Falls, Ont. and later went to train under Shihan Paul Kerr (no relation) in Perth, Ont. attaining the rank of 3rd Dan. In 2004 after a work transfer brought me to the Lindsay area, I met Sensei Vern Tilley and made the switch to our current style, where I continue to train. In 2016 while in Okinawa I graded for and received my 5th Dan. Over the years training in the martial arts I have made a lot of good friends and have had the privilege to train with and meet people from all over the world. As an instructor I try to help students be the best that they can be and with a little hard work and practice they can be.
